丹尼?贝达出生于魁北克省， 他青年的时候是一个酒吧的DJ。 19岁时， 他来到蒙特利尔寻求一段音乐生涯。 1993年， 他加入当地的一队乐队弹贝斯。 1999年， 乐队 La Chicane 邀请丹尼参加他们的巡回表演， 丹尼在乐队中任低音吉他手。 在La Chicane 期间， 丹尼为乐队写了不少好歌， 其中包括大热的《Tu m'manques》。 收录这首歌的 La Chicane 大碟《Disparu》共获三个ADISQ奖和一个JUNO奖。

尽管丹尼与乐队合作愉快， 但他还是在2002年走上个人发展之途。 2002年2月， 丹尼出版了他的第一张个人专集《Fruit de ma récente nuit blanche》， 该专集获白金认证销量（10万张）。 2004年， 丹尼出版了第二张个人专集《écoute-moi donc》， 该唱片不但获得白金认证销量， 还在2005年的ADISQ音乐奖上为丹尼赢得最佳流行摇滚类最佳大碟奖和最佳男歌手奖。

丹尼还为Boom Desjardins（La Chicane的主音歌手）， Annie Villeneuve等歌手作了不少好歌。 2006年5月， 丹尼把他自己和为其他歌手写的热门歌用不插电的吉他清唱方式重新翻唱， 制作成专集《Acoustique... En studio!》出版， 同样大受欢迎。 在2007年的ADISQ音乐奖上， 丹尼的《Acoustique... En studio!》获流行摇滚类最佳大碟奖提名。
